Studying in Korea
How much are the
tuition fees? What are the accommodation costs?
Total cost for one year is calculated to be USD 8230/- including fee and
accommodation at University Hostel with two time meals will cost USD
1900 per year.
If you want to live outside University, it will be rather cheaper & you
can live with other Pakistani persons. Roughly living costs are around
20-30000 Rupee per month.
What about Part Time
Jobs?
Part time jobs are allowed 20 hours a week after first semester. Earning
depend what type of job it is, but there is no restriction on that.
What is the
transportation fee per month?
Transport in Korea is very cheap. A bus ride costs 90 cents to $ 2
depending on the type of bus and the distance, and the subway
(underground train) costs 90 cents to $1.50 depending on the distance.
How does a student
get a visa?
1. Before Coming to Korea
Anyone who wants to visit Korea has to obtain visa information from any
of the Korean Consulates or Embassies in their country of residence,
before commencing travel to Korea. Visa requirements differ from country
to country, depending on the countries’ mutual visa agreements.
2. Procedure to get a Student Visa
Only students who have been accepted onto the degree programmes, and who
have received a letter of acceptance, can apply for a visa, on condition
that 50% of the annual tuition fee, and the enrolment fee have been
paid. These fees are non-refundable once the visa number has been issued
by Korean Immigration. Should the visa application be rejected, the
tuition fee will be refunded.

Normally, once visa approval number will be issued from Korea, there
should be no problem in getting Korean visa at Embassy in Islamabad.
Embassy visa fee is only Rs 1300/-
Approval of visa is sole discretion of Korean Immigration

3. Staying in Korea
Anyone who wants to stay in Korea for longer than 90 days, is required
to register at an Immigration Office within 90 days from the date of
entry.
It is punishable to stay in Korea for more than 90 days without being
registered. To register, students should take their Korean visas,
obtained in the country of residence, to the nearest Immigration Office
in person, and complete the necessary application forms within 90 days
of arrival. The University’s International Office will assist students
with this process.
Do students
get Scholarships?
Most scholarships are for Masters degrees. Although students can compete
for other scholarships but that’s possible once they will complete there
studies of first semester in Korea. There are some awards for excellent
quality overseas students. If you have above 75% marks & IELTS6.5, you
can apply for those.
Weather,
Time & Currency:
Korea has all 4 seasons. In summers temperature is around 19-27C, In
winters it is -5 to 10 C. January is coldest month while August is
hottest. There is much snow fall in Seoul in winter season, so students
should bring warm clothing from Pakistan
Korean Currency is WON & 1 US Dollar = 935 Won So 1 Pak Rupee = 15 Won
Korean time is 4 hours ahead of Pakistan time. So at 12 Noon, in Seoul
Korea it will be 4 pm evening.
Muslims &
Pakistanis in South Korea
There are around 20,000 Pakistanis in Korea. Mostly are related to
private business or labor jobs. There is good number of Muslims in Korea
with 4 big mosques in Seoul. Halal & Muslim food is widely available.
